How the hell do these clips come out? I figured out to put a screwdriver in to pop the center up but I cannot get the clip out of the hole it’s in

can you get your hands under it and squeeze the ‘arm’ and push it out from there>

You need a tool they make for removing interior pieces I bought one for $8. It makes the job easier it looks like a pry bar with a forked tongue.

That is the proper answer

Pop the top up, then use a side cutters to get under it and lift and pinch the stem.
Here’s what they look like to give you an idea of what the fuck I’m on about:

Two of these should work for you

Found the link for what I have

its two separate pieces, the top bit is the male bit and the bottom is the female, they are a pain in the ass to undo. find two of the smallest flathead you have and go from opposite sides and try to lift it straight up.
if all else fails brake it and buy new

In my experience you need to almost (or actually) remove the pin to allow the section which expands to collapse, and then get leverage under the bottom section to pull it out.

Duh!
![]() 11/11/2016 at 21:08 |

just use a flat head screwdriver

Since the real answers are already posted, I will suggest a big ass pair of channel locks and the power of jeebus.

But these are closed at the bottom.

The pin gets to a point and just stops. I guess if I pulled really, really hard?
![]() 11/11/2016 at 21:26 |

Nope. Doesn’t work.

I did. The center popped out and then didn’t go any further

that’s how there suppose to work, you then just wiggle yank them out.
![]() 11/11/2016 at 21:33 |

That’s how they work. I’ve had to pull out a lot of these on my Accord. Just be careful you don’t break them.

Looks like you’re missing a V8 *ba-dum-bum-ching*. In all seriousness I consider those infernal things disposable. I just look up the part number, buy a bunch at the dealer then cut the old ones out with a razor blade. You can also get them out with a small screwdriver to pop the top up then pinch the bottom with needle nose pliers while you pull from the top. Usually they end up semi-mangled that way anyhow, but if you are careful and have the time you can reuse them.

I hate those damn things... even if you can yank them out without busting them, they never go back in and clip as nice as original.

Yeah, I got it. The ones I was starting with were just especially stubborn

I really don’t want to give advice on how hard you should be pulling on your pin... in order to get it out...

Plan to break or lose about half of them. The old Ford/GM ones were designed for re-usability, the new Honda ones are not. They just pretend in order to provide you with max frustration. I have a dislike for bad engineering and that’s what this is.

Lol, I think I was just at a loss because the first two I tried were suuuuuper stubborn. The rest were easy, and I manage to get these out with the new experience

Kind of post stalking here. There is a special tool for these things if you plan on using it enough. I’m not sure of the name. One part pushes down on the panel while the other pulls up the retainer when you squeeze.
Edit: Here’s a couple options, the first is my first but I would assume not as versatile
